This open source platform created by Ford enables developers to quickly and simply connect the features in a mobile app to the vehicle HMI, creating a seamless experience between smartphone and vehicle. SDL is how hundreds of developers have launched streaming music, navigation, productivity, and other popular apps in all regions of the world.

Want to take advantage of exciting capabilities made possible by the embedded modem? Remote services such as lock, unlock door, start engine, or request vehicle location can help you create impressive features that Ford owners can take advantage of while not in a vehicle.

Ford Dev also invites developers to explore how combining in-vehicle and remote services can amp up the connected car experience. Starting before an owner even gets in the car, carrying an experience with them into the vehicle to enjoy along their commute, and even extending beyond the driving experience through the vehicle's generated data and feature sets.
